Welcome to 'Identity', a TamilCulture.com podcast. I'm your host Jeevan Ravindran. I'm a journalist, presenter and actress based in London.
What is my identity? It's a question that we all seek to answer in our own ways throughout our lives. Each episode of 'Identity' spotlights a different creative, some from the Tamil community and some from outside it, who will be chatting about how we take ownership of our narratives, art, politics and of course who we are. Our hope is to inspire you through their unique stories of seeking and finding identity.
We chat with Shakthi, a western Sydney storyteller with Sri Lankan heritage and Tamil ancestry. He’s a writer, director and composer of original music. His debut play Counting and Cracking (Belvoir and Co-Curious), received critical, commercial and community acclaim at the 2019 Sydney and Adelaide Festivals. The script won the Victorian Premier’s Literature Prize and the NSW Premier’s Nick Enright Prize for Playwriting; the production won 7 Helpmann and 3 Sydney Theatre Awards.
