Being a Female BIPOC Entrepreneur today is never rainbows and sunshine. My name is Shobana Thangarajah and I am the Founder of Glam Galaxy Cosmetics, a makeup brand made for the modern day woman by a modern day woman.

When I first started this brand, I definitely heard a lot of ‘no’s”. Being a startup in a big and competitive industry is always hard, but being a young female BIPOC entrepreneur, who is still learning as she goes, makes it 10 times more difficult. Since launching Glam Galaxy Cosmetics, I’ve experienced many rejections, discriminations, and mental breakdowns that I was willing to give up everything. If it wasn't for my supportive family and friends, as well as my drive and passion for this brand, Glam Galaxy Cosmetics would not have made it to Winners - a huge dream come true.

Why did I start this brand?

I am someone who is always on-the-go. From working out to working to going to social events, #GlamOnTheGo has become harder and harder. I hated having to carry multiple makeup products with me to get one task done, or not having the time to go back home to do a quick touch-up before going out for the night. When I went more In-depth, I found out that I wasn’t the only person to face this issue, and many women were having this same problem. With so many beauty brands out there, there was no brand that focused on matching the lifestyle needs of women who juggle multiple roles. This was when my brand was born. My mission is to break down the barriers of a “standard” makeup product, and provide game-changing and innovative beauty products that are efficient, convenient, and easy-to-go., AKA “ Glam on the Go”.

Unlike our mothers, grandmothers or women historically, we now have so many opportunities and the freedom to chase our dreams and goals, but that comes with pressures for finding time to do it all. We are consumed with so many responsibilities on a daily basis, that we are always on-the-go. Living this lifestyle, and having this experience personally allowed me to build products which simplify the getting ready process.

What is next?

Glam Galaxy Cosmetics is a growing brand and we were recently featured on blogTO as our products are going to be sold at Winners. But this is just the beginning. We will be launching eye products by the end of this year and have alot more surprises coming up. I'm truly excited about what the future holds!
