Welcome to TamilCulture.com's podcast Identity! I'm your host Jeevan Ravindran. I'm a journalist, presenter and actress based in London.
What is my Identity? It's a question that we all seek to answer in our own ways throughout our lives. Each episode of Identity spotlights a different creative, some from the Tamil community and some from outside it, who will be chatting about how we take ownership of our narratives, art, politics and of course who we are. We hope to inspire you through their unique stories of seeking and finding Identity.
In this episode, we chat with Anuk Arudpragasam, a Tamil novelist and translator from Colombo, Sri Lanka. His first novel, The Story of a Brief Marriage, won the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature in 2017 and was shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize. His second novel, A Passage North, came out in 2021 and was shortlisted for the Booker Prize, the Dylan Thomas Prize, and the George Orwell Prize. He received a doctorate in philosophy from Columbia University in 2019.
