Toronto Tamil Chair Reaches 90% of the Total Target of $3 million
The Tamil language is spoken by more than 70 million people worldwide and is one of the major classical languages of the world with one of the oldest written traditions in all of Asia, boasting a rich body of literary work dating back 2,500 years. An endowed chair at UTSC, will have a significant impact on academic investigation in Tamil for generations to come.

Tamil Chair Inc., and Canadian Tamil Congress have signed an agreement with the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) to support the establishment of an endowed Chair in Tamil Studies, making history as the first Chair of its kind at UTSC.
The Toronto Tamil Chair campaign gathered even more momentum despite the pandemic and attracted additional investments in Tamil Studies. To date, the campaign has reached about 90% of the total target of $3MM. With approximately $200K left to raise, the fundraising team is looking to the community for support.
