At just 15 years old, Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi is making waves in the world of tennis. Hailing from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, this young phenom’s rapid ascent from a child with a racket to a rising international star has captured the attention of fans, coaches, and tennis legends alike.

Born on June 12, 2009, Maaya’s journey into tennis was almost accidental. What started as a casual after-school hobby soon turned into an all-consuming passion. By the time she turned 10, it was clear that she possessed something special.

Encouraged by her supportive parents, Rajeshwaran and Revathi, she embarked on an intensive training regimen, determined to carve a path in the highly competitive world of tennis. She has secured multiple championship titles, including major victories at the ITF Chennai and Hyderabad tournaments in 2023, followed by a prestigious Grade 1 title in New Delhi in early 2025. These wins not only solidified her reputation as a dominant junior player but also opened doors for her to step onto the professional stage.

February 2025 marked a turning point in Maaya’s career. Competing as a wildcard qualifier at the WTA 125 L&T Mumbai Open, she defied expectations by taking down established players ranked significantly higher than her. With stunning victories over Iryna Shymanovich, Zarina Diyas, and Mei Yamaguchi, Maaya proved she belonged among the elite. Though her incredible run ended in the semifinals against Jil Teichmann, her fearless performance left an indelible mark on the tournament and showcased her immense potential.

Recognizing her extraordinary talent, the Rafa Nadal Academy in Spain extended an invitation to Maaya, offering her access to some of the best coaching and training facilities in the world. Under the guidance of tennis legend Rafael Nadal himself, she is sharpening her skills and gaining invaluable insights into the mindset required to compete at the highest level. This opportunity is expected to be a game-changer in her pursuit of professional success. Read more here.
