Three Unique Ways to Spice-Up your Sari Style

South Asian Fashion is a beautiful and expressive way to flaunt your culture. The first thought that associates with South Asian Fashion, specifically in Tamil culture, are saris!

South Asian Fashion is a beautiful and expressive way to flaunt your culture. The first thought that associates with South Asian Fashion, specifically in the Tamil culture, are saris! A typical Sari (or Saree) is “tied” with an unstitched cloth, ranging from different colours and designs, which is wrapped around the body; it generally has 5-6 pleats and the pallu goes over the shoulder. Though the sari is a unique outfit as it is, it does get repetitive to see at our cultural events. But do not fret! Today we will see three diverse ways to spice-up your sari style.

First up: Belt it! KiranUttamGhosh

Kiran Uttam Ghosh has accessorized her sari with the simple and understated accessory, a belt! A Sari is tied with 9 feet of fabric, so you can easily lose yourself in it; a belt will not only extenuate your waist but also it can make your sari look put together and elegant (it also gets that fabric out of your way so you can dance the night away).

Payal

Sassy Second: Blazers

Ah, now that versatile, well-fitted blazer you have in your closet can be paired with your Sari! Payal Pratap Singh has styled her long sari blouse with an amazing velvet blazer and long dangling gold earrings to make the simple printed sari more night appropriate.

Shantanu

The Flirty Third: 1920’s Flapper

The 1920’s inspired sari by Shantanu & Nikhil is completely out of the box and is out of the sari-tying norm.  This sari is worn with tights instead of a petticoat and is draped around the body without pleats. Try it if you dare!
