Krishna Leela is a charity Bharathanatya dance recital, initiated by Narththany Mahapooranan and Niruja Sivaguganathan, with a goal of raising funds for Bharathi Anbu Illam.
As a result of a 26-year civil war in Sri Lanka between the Sri Lankan government and Tamil Eelam, a vast majority of the Tamil population were displaced and separated from their loved ones. We, Narththany Mahapooranan and Niruja Sivaguganathan, have started a fundraising campaign that is aimed to help Bharathi Anbu Illam, an underprivileged children’s orphanage located in Mullaitivu, Sri Lanka. This orphanage consists of two homes - Anbu Illam (all boys) and Bharathi Illam (all girls). Both homes are under one Administration, and consist of 400 children from ages 4-16 years old who have lost their parents to the civil war.
Bharathi Anbu Illam requires financial support to assist with the children’s educational and day-to-day basic needs. Our goal throughout this campaign is to raise as much money as we can, in order to help improve the lives of these children who have suffered the most during the final months of the war.
As part of our fundraising campaign, we will be performing Krishna Leela, a Bharathanatya dance recital depicting the life and essence of Lord Krishna. All of the proceeds from this event will be going towards Bharathi Anbu Illam.
