At only 21, T. Thuvarakan is becoming popular throughout social media with his musical talent.
Jaffna, Sri Lanka's young musician Thuvarakan Tharumarajah, popularly known as T. Thuvarakan, is on a journey to reach his ambition as a musical director. Along the way, he is studying Management at the University of Jaffna and is due to graduate in 2019.
In 2012, T. Thuvarakan started a band called "Vaanavil Music Band Jaffna" with him as the director. T. Thuvarakan has since performed at many organized functions.
T. Thuvarakan's interest in music began at the age of 5 with the influence of his father, who was also a singer in Jaffna. Today, at the age of 21, he has developed great skills in music which include playing 11 instruments - keyboard, guitar, drums, miruthangam, tabla, octapad, gatam, ganjeera, morsing, thavil and udukai. On top of all this, T. Thuvarakan is currently learning to play two more instruments - violin and flute.
Upon completing miruthangam for 16 years up to teaching grade, T. Thuvarakan performed his arangetram earlier this year in February 2016. Due to his excellence in music, T. Thuvarakan was awarded the 'Kalavithagar' award in 2016.
T. Thuvarakan has been interviewed by radio and TV networks in Sri Lanka, including Yarl FM, Sakthi TV, Nethra TV, DD TV and DAN TV, and performed live on these channels. Having played keyboard cover versions to Tamil cinema songs, including Aaluma Doluma from actor Ajith's Vedhalam movie, Yaendi Yaendi from actor Vijay's Puli movie and Un Mela Oru Kannu from the Tamil Rajinimurugan movie, for which he was praised for by musical composer D.Imman, T. Thuvarakan has gained huge popularity in social media.
Not only has T. Thuvarakan played cover songs, but he has also composed his own songs such as the 'Facebook' song which can all be found on his social media pages. On August 28, T. Thuvarakan gave an astonishing performance with the famous Supersingers for the Neruppu Da song from one of the latest movies of Rajinikanth Kabali.
Alongside music, T. Thuvarakan is also very keen in social services. Whenever special occasions occur, he supports different groups of people in the community by providing them with satisfying needs, and entertains young groups of children with music. Some of his social services can be viewed on his social media pages. All of these musical achievements were done by T. Thuvarakan while growing up amidst civil war in Jaffna in a nondescript room in his house.
In order to reach his ambition, T. Thuvarakan is working extremely hard to become even more popular to the social community and improve his equipment to enable better delivery of performances.
