The Tamil Canadian community is one of the fastest growing communities in Canada and is a flourishing one, with thousands of successful professionals, entrepreneurs and active community members nurturing a thriving arts and cultural scene. Today the community is 350,000 strong with a significant presence in the City of Toronto.

Tamil Fest is proudly hosted by Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) a non-profit organization formed in 2001 which serves as the voice of Tamil Canadians. CTC upholds Canadian values of equality, volunteerism, human rights and multiculturalism. CTC also actively promotes Tamil Arts and Cultural Language.

Tamil Fest is one of its kind Street festival showcasing the rich cultural heritage, arts, music, cuisine, history and pride of Tamil Culture. Over the years, Tamil Fest has become a huge phenomenon in Scarborough. Being the largest street festival of Scarborough, this unique festival has attracted a diverse crowd of more than 225,000 people last year alone during the two days. This is also the biggest Tamil street festival outside the Indian subcontinent. Having had a successful streak in the last 5 years since its inception, this year Tamil Fest is entering into its 6th annual celebration.

To keep the tradition of this great festival going, this year’s events are scheduled to take place in a virtual format due to the unprecedented events related to the prevalent global pandemic. Audience tuning in to this live concert can get to experience their favourite singers, dancers, comedians and music bands just at the tap of their fingers right from the comforts of their homes.

The live concert is scheduled to be live telecasted from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM on Saturday, 29th August and 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM on Sunday, 30th August on ATN (Asian Television Network). Live streaming will also be available simultaneously on multiple platforms like Youtube, Facebook and also on our website tamilfest.ca. The festivities will be launched on August 29th from 10:30 t0 11:00 PM in the presence of several prominent politicians from Canada. Inauguration speeches to be delivered by Rev. M. Jegath Gaspar Raj and “Kambavarithi” Ilangai Jeyaraj.

Every year, Tamil Fest brings world-class entertainment to the Canadian crowd while encouraging international and local talents and this year is no exception. Two days of world renowned entertainment is guaranteed to the viewers by internationally acclaimed artists from India, Srilanka and many other local talents.

This year’s concert features performances by prominent Indian singers Mano and Haricharan and Srilankan singers Jeyanthan Kanthappu and Piratha Kanthappu. Enthralling performances by extremely talented local talents like instrumentalist Sruthi Balamurali, Super Singer Sinmaye, Singer Jessica Judes, and many classical dancers are sure to mesmerize the audience. North America’s favourite Tamil bands – Mega Tuners is set to perform on August 29th and Agni is ready to set the stage on fire (No Pun intended) on August 30th. The much anticipated comedy performance by Aadhavan and Sandhya is sure to tickle your funny bones.
