This January marked the sixth annual Tamil Heritage Month celebration from coast to coast across Canada. Since being proclaimed in 2016, Tamil Heritage Month has recognized Tamil Canadians' contributions to this country even as they use it to speak out on issues that matter to them. Boasting one of the world’s largest Tamil diasporas in the world outside of the Indian subcontinent, Canada’s leadership in celebrating Tamil identity has inspired similar recognition in other parts of the world, including, most recently, in the United Kingdom.
