Mayooran nominated for Positive Role Model award in 2018 National Diversity Awards Mayooran Senthilmani is an award-winning author and group finance director at a London-based firm. He currently manages a £50 Million turnover business with more than 1,000 employees. But it’s his desire to use his war-torn past to inspire others to reach for greatness that led to his nomination for a Positive Role Model award.

Mayooran was born in Chavakachcheri, in the Jaffna District of the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. At the age of 16, he was trapped by a multi-barrel artillery attack and flight bombing. He stayed inside the bunker for several days with no real food. He saw many people die and hundreds of innocent people wounded.

His family, and a few others, were able to escape the war zone by walking at least 10 miles through a muddy lake and a small forest. Although he suffered for many days, he took solace that he was alive while so many others were not.

How Education Changed His Course In Life

Mayooran kept focus on his schooling in an effort to attain real success. Mayooran received a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Colombo while simultaneously completing the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK while working at KPMG. His experience provided him with a scholarship to continue furthering his education in the UK.

Mayooran worked in ASDA until he passed his MSc with Merit degree. Although he held a BSc, MSc and CIMA, he was turned down for hundreds of jobs – mainly because he had no UK work experience. He volunteered his time at a small accounting firm while also working at ASDA. Mayooran landed a temp position as an Assistant Accountant in Central London. He began working at the Caskade Group in 2009 as an Accountant. In 2012, he was promoted to Financial Controller. In 2015, he was promoted to Finance Director.

Meeting Best-Selling Author Inspires Him To Write Books

During this time at the 2012 Entrepreneurs Conference in London, Mayooran had the privilege to meet New York Times bestselling author Raymond Aaron. It was he who inspired him to write his first book “Live Your Life.” It became an Amazon bestseller. The book helped him improve his personal brand and experience several happy moments such as receiving a letter from Her Majesty the Queen.

Mayooran currently has five published books. Mayooran hosts an online course “Get Hired without Work Experience” at Udemy, which helps others to get the experience they need to make a difference in their lives. The course currently has more than 5,000 students. He has also helped many authors publish their books in 30 days with his DVG Star Publishing company. Many of them have reached the top spot on Amazon’s bestselling list.

Mayooran has helped children under 18 to pursue their ambitions and passions by publishing their first book for free. A four-year-old was even nominated for the Guinness World Book of Records.

“I am very proud and happy to see the kids’ success. I have helped so many people to reach their full potential and attain success.”

Mayooran has managed to overcome obstacles in his early life and become a successful person with the power of positive thinking. Due to his numerous successes and achievements, he was nominated for a Positive Role Model award at the 2018 National Diversity Awards under the “Age” category. Votes can be cast at https://nominate.nationaldiversityawards.co.uk/Nominate/Endorse/31978.

“I am very grateful for the nomination and every vote cast for me.”

Mayooran wants young people to know that education is a necessity and that by dreaming big, thinking positively and setting goals, a person can achieve great heights.

“Dream big, live your dream; you are the creator of your own destiny!” According to Mayooran, he is grateful for everything he has had in his life. His life was very challenging in the beginning, but he was able to turn life around to become what he is today.

“I would humbly like to share my journey to inspire millions of young people to #DREAM BIG, #THINK POSITIVE, #FOLLOW YOUR PASSION, #BELIEVE YOU CAN DO IT, #SET GOAL, #ACHIEVE SUCCESS.”

Mayooran currently lives in the UK with his wife and two children, where he is pursuing a doctorate in Business Administration at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University.
