She does it all. She plays the piano, keyboard, guitar, flute, drums and even the tabla. Meet Sophia Akkara, the Swiss born Kerala native a capella sensation.

Sophia's musical talents started at the age of two as she provided beats for her mom to sing along to. Her first audition was nerve-wracking. But with the positive feedback she received from the judges she realized her true passion - performing.

The versatile artist learned various dance styles (bharathanatyam, mohiniyattam, folk dance, hip hop, belly dance), singing styles (carnatic, Western opera, Indian, pop), took piano lessons, and joined a choir until the age of 15. When she turned 16, Sophia composed her first song for a project at high school and started a Bollywood dance group named “Caramels".

Sophia's younger days consisted of singing Malayalam songs with her mother. Now she explores various languages, including Tamil. Sophia's all-time favourite song is "MunbeeVaa". Her greatest inspirations are Shreya Ghoshal, K.S Chithra and Beyonce.

At age 19, Sophia took part in the "Deutschland sucht den Superstar (German Idol)", a reality talent show hosted in Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Sophia placed in the top 10 out of 350,000 participants. With her newfound TV fame, Sophia began to perform at clubs and shows across Europe. Her biggest hit thus far has been the “One-Girl Acapella” covers she shares on social media, as well as her feature on DJ Kays from France with Mister You and Dr. Zeus.

As her musical talents grew and her family and friends encouraged her to perform, Sophia felt that it was time to share it globally. She started her social media debut in 2013, sharing her adventures and videos. Soon, Sophia will be performing outside of Europe including India, Singapore and the United States. Not only does she perform, she speaks a variety of languages including German, French and Malayalam. She understands Tamil and Spanish. Seriously, what doesn’t she do?
