Love at first sight. It’s something I thought was real when I was growing up.
I always did think I would instantly know who my soulmate is when I met him. No doubt, fairy tales clouded my judgement about love but regardless as I grew older, I realised that ‘love at first sight’ isn’t a complete lie.
I’ve experienced moments where I’ve had strong connections with strangers and sure some were based purely because the guy was stunningly handsome, but some were because of their character i.e. they were either reading a book that I’ve read or were ordering something I wanted to order or simply because they had a cool-ish vibe about them.
This short poem is about a time when I had a strong connection with a guy that I met on the bus. I never did work up the nerve to talk to him, but it’s a memory that I’ll treasure since these moments don’t happen too often.
………………...........................................................................................................................................................
I walked into the bus,
And the first person,
My eyes saw was you.
You were sitting down,
With your headphones on,
Your head slowly moving,
To the rhythm of the song,
You stopped the minute I walked in,
Slightly titled your head,
And your eyes saw me.
It felt like time stood still,
Even the cold winter breeze,
Couldn’t stop my face from heating up,
But my heart was smiling,
This scared me,
Scared me enough to,
Slowly pull my eyes away from you,
And question,
How? How?
How is it possible that;
Your stare, your gaze,
Your eyes on me,
Felt so right,
Felt so comfortable,
It almost felt like,
We were destined to meet,
Through our eyes
