Lawyer, researcher
I am a lawyer, mother and a passionate Thamizh enthusiast. Growing up, I was heavily involved in Thamizh creative spaces but my focus shifted to my career after I finished my undergraduate studies. After the birth of my son, I was inspired to pursue my passion for Thamizh again. I started a social media page @whatthepottu that explores Thamizh religious and cultural practices, often relating to social inequalities and its effects on Thamizh society today. I have also co-authored a children’s book, “Amutha Loves to Read”, which showcases the life of a Thamizh family living in the diaspora. The book explores important topics such as representation, colourism, and gender norms. While juggling multiple projects with a busy career and equally challenging parenting demands, I have used my creativity to find the balance I need and which has become an integral part of my journey of self discovery and well-being.
