A well-known Tamil magazine in India, Kumudam Reporter, recently came out with a cover story featuring an image of unsuspecting women in leggings. Accompanying this image was a Tamil caption, in bold yellow and red letters which loosely translates to <i>"Obscene Leggings? Youth who are Crossing the Line"</i>. A more appropriate title would be <i>"Obscene Journalists? Writers who are Crossing the Line"</i>.
I used to love watching Tamil movies. There was a time when these films seemed to have compelling storylines, and I enjoyed watching the lead actor ooze forced alpha male heroism out of every pore in his body. Meanwhile, the lead actress would wander around as if her sole purpose in life was to be the main actor’s trophy partner.
In a room with four white walls, there was a little brown boy in the centre of the room. He was scared and lonely and did not understand why he was here. But he knew he had to make the best of it.
