Kieran Arasaratnam is the founder of Uinspire, a social enterprise platform disrupting old models of impact investment. He has an investment banking career spanning 15 years, having worked with Barclays Capital in Singapore, and with Morgan Stanley and HSBC in London and New York where he was a head of global macro FX structuring.
Over the course of his career, he has led various initiatives driving banking innovation and new technology that has transformed the industry. All the while he has dedicated his spare time to charitable causes around the world.
By launching Uinspire, Kieran has been able to draw upon his knowledge of finance to help build a global network effecting positive social change. He also launched Uinspire Global Leadership Events, which brings together influential thought leaders from the world of finance, business and impact investment. In January, he launched the Uinspire Digital Academy, a program offering digital training, leadership and communication skills to empower underprivileged youths in his native Sri Lanka.
Kieran is a Professor and an advisory board member of Imperial College Business School in London where he earned his PhD. He is also a founding member of Imperial College Financial Signal Processing Research Group. He is an alumni of Harvard University's Emerging Leadership programme and fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

As a parent, one often has to answer hard questions. For me, some of the most difficult questions have come from my seven-year-old son over the past few weeks. We have had a summer full of shocking events. Violence in France, Germany, and Turkey has put terrorism back in the headlines. It is hard to protect my son from the horrors of the flickering television reports. My young boy has seen the news and inevitably asked me: “why are people mad at each other?”
