I am delighted to announce that my latest film, The Protector, will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime starting February 19, 2023. This film is the result of my lifelong fascination with Hindu mythology and the works of Alfred Hitchcock.
Growing up in a small village in northern Sri Lanka, I was captivated by the temple dedicated to Bhairava, the Hindu God of protection. Known for his wrathful demeanor, Bhairava's statue evoked a powerful mix of emotions in me, inspiring both fear and reverence from a young age. This fascination was further enhanced when I discovered the works of Alfred Hitchcock, the master of suspense and thrillers, who has had a lasting impact on me and shaped my development as a filmmaker.
In The Protector, I bring these two childhood fascinations together to create a unique and exciting story. The film follows the character Evelyn, a determined and resilient individual who fights against corruption and restores balance to her world despite the odds against her. With her unwavering strength, focus, and will, she stands as a hero for our times.

The Protector has been well-received in the festival circuit, with its world premiere taking place at the prestigious Fantasia Festival in July. Since then, it has been invited to over fifteen important festivals worldwide, including being the opening film at the Blood in the Snow Festival and Sault Ste. Marie International Film Festival, and the closing film at the 8th edition of the Jaffna International Cinema Festival. The film was also honored with the Best Feature Award in Panama.
Critics have praised The Protector for its originality and captivating premise, and the lead actress, Chelsea Clark, has received widespread acclaim for her portrayal of Evelyn, which has been described as the most suspenseful role of her career. Filmed in Sault Ste. Marie during the winter of 2021, the dedication and hard work of the entire cast and crew is what brought the film to this stage of success.

Synopsis: For 10 years the town of Wilfred has been suspiciously crime-free. But Evelyn (Chelsea Clark), recently released from juvenile detention into the care of the austere Dr. Flora (Rebecca Jenkins), discovers menacing and violent undercurrents of crime. An enigmatic stranger (Pras Lingam) comes to town as Chelsea sets out on a relentless mission to uncover the mystery of what is truly going on… But nothing is as it seems and her quest puts her life (and others’) in danger.
