Ontario's municipal elections were held on Monday, October 22nd, 2018 resulting in four Tamil-Canadians being elected to School Board Trustee roles, three of whom are female representatives.

Yalini holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in Political Science. She also studied Arts and Cultural Management at Humber College.
Parthi Kandavel, Toronto District School Board Trustee
A teacher and previously elected Toronto District School Board Trustee.
Juanita Nathan, York District School Board Trustee
A previously elected trustee, the vice-chair for the York Region District School Board, a parent-student support worker, and a counsellor for abused women.
