Akshanaa Rathakrishnan is an elected member of the Durham Youth Council, representing the Township of Uxbridge, Brock and Scugog. Among many other awards, Akshanaa was awarded the 2019 Youth Icon Award by the Candian Tamil Youth Alliance and the Outstanding Community Contribution Award. She has actively participated in several community initiatives and currently serves as an Associate Facilitator at the Centre for Leadership and Innovation Program. Akshanaa is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Political Science at the University of Toronto - St. George.
