On February 5th, an exclusive screening of A.R. Rahman’s concert film, One Heart, will take place at Toronto’s Scotiabank Theatre.

The event, with A.R. Rahman in attendance, is being organized by Ideal Entertainment (IE), the film and music distribution and production arm of the Ideal Group of Companies. The company was officially launched on Thursday, February 2nd at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts.

Given Toronto’s love affair with the arts and its presence on the world’s stage as a leader in film production, there is no better city that this event could be set in. Add to that the presence of the Academy Award winning, internationally acclaimed musician in the audience at the screening, and his participation in a Q & A, and it’s clear that it’s going to be one of the hottest tickets in town.

The film will feature never before seen footage of A.R. Rahman and his ten-member band, performing their most beloved songs. The film is punctuated by a series of in-depth interviews with the world renowned maestro, revealing the innermost thoughts of the incredible man behind the iconic figure.

Ranging from how he feels about performing on stage, to how he came to choose the band that toured with him across America, to the humility he feels when throngs of fans shower him with love, each interview unravels another layer of his story.

The footage of arena performances will illustrate his ability to enthrall audiences and evoke the excitement of experiencing his music live. Rahman has been pushing the boundaries of creativity and inspiring fans to dream bigger for nearly three decades, and the film will be sure to ignite the imaginations of fans across generations.

Following the screening, IE will be distributing the film in its latest collaboration with the composer. IE’s first two projects have been confirmed as co-producing Rahman’s 99 songs, a feature-length romantic musical to be released in Hindi, and LeMusk, an English language, musically immersive virtual reality movie supported by a combination of sensory experiences, to take you places you’ve never been before.

On February 4th, the company is also set to produce Ideal Dreams, A Tribute to A.R. Rahman in his presence. As Rahman marks 25 years since his entry into the film industry this year, the show will feature over 100 artists performing musical theater, dancing and singing to his award-winning compositions.

The Kindred Spirits Orchestra, led by Maestro Kristian Alexander, and an ensemble of extraordinary musicians and vocalists, led by Music Arranger Ralph Francis and Vocal Director O’Neil Gerald Donald, respectively, are confirmed to perform. The performers were handpicked for exemplifying the talent to take the artistry which has mesmerized audiences for decades to new heights.

The screening will take place from 1-4pm on Sunday, and include a Mix and Mingle and a Q&A with A.R. Rahman! For all event updates visit the Ideal Entertainment Facebook page. Tickets can be purchased here.

Kettikari
I'm Bruno, and I'm a kettikaran. Kettikaran is a Tamil masculine word used to describe a male who is successful at achieving something great; in other words, a winner (kettikari for females). For the last few months, this is what a few elders within the Sri Lankan-Tamil community have been telling me - that I’m a winner. No, I didn’t receive a scholarship to school; I didn’t score the winning goal to help my team win the league trophy; I didn’t discover a medical breakthrough. So, what did I do to be bathed with such a commemorative label? Well, I fathered a son as my first child.
