Meet Bearsnowls and Deepika Mahadevan. These two artists combine their third culture upbringing as Indo-Canadian artists by pursuing independent music careers in the west, as well as in Tamil and Indian cinema.

My parents’ first concern when I told them I wanted to live in Chennai for a while, by myself, was for my safety. They weren’t really worried about my decision to leave a full time job to join my friend’s production company and begin an international business in India.
On my second visit to Chennai in January 2015, I went out to lunch with a few of my co-workers at Behindwoods. I wanted to try the soup starter but I knew I wouldn’t be able to finish the large portions I saw being served. One of my teammates said “we’ll share” and as the waiter came by he told them “We’ll have the sweet corn soup, 1 by 2”.
