The Canadian Tamil Youth Development Centre (CanTYD) recently held their 14th Annual Awards of Excellence Gala. Formed in 1998, CanTYD is a non-profit organization dedicated to youth empowerment in the Tamil-Canadian community.

Amongst the many highlights of the evening was an inspiring keynote delivered by Abirami Jeyaratnam about the power of mentorship - for mentors and mentees alike.

A mentor herself, having worked extensively with youth around the world, Abirami was recently featured on Kumukam.com as part of a list of "Tamil Canadian Women as Agents of Change", in celebration of women's history month.
