Popular Indian song-writer and performer Shakthisree Gopalan has teamed up with Toronto music producer Dafusia to record a new independent single.
The smooth ballad titled “By Your Side” was recorded in Canada and also features Nigel Roopnarine, a notable Indo-Caribbean bass player.
Best known for her many songs composed by A.R. Rahman for hit Tamil films, Shakthisree has also been a longtime supporter of independent Tamil music, both in North America and India.
Known musically as ‘Dafusia’, Hari Dafusia's arrangement of the ‘Wat Wat’ remix from ‘Tamasha’ with A.R. Rahman hit the Top 10 iTunes India charts in fall 2015. Dafusia has also composed music for TV and film in Toronto.
Nigel Roopnarine has performed with several artists from South Asia, including playback singers Kanika Kapoor and Srinivas.
The official music video for ‘By Your Side’ was launched by Anirudh on Thursday, December 22nd.
